Objectives
Hanford Concerns Council is an independent forum to resolve employee concerns about tough safety, health and environmental protection at the Hanford facility.  The site must encourage employees to come forward feeling confident that the Council will offer a safe, fair and effective avenue for addressing high-stake concerns, assure the management and vendors of the Council’s ability to resolve issues expeditiously and fairly, inform concerned citizens and public watchdogs, and assure public officials that health and safety concerns are handled fairly and fiscally responsibly.

Our Strategy & Approach
InfoAdvantage developed a strategy to use the Web site to educate and to effectively build the confidence and trust of the Council’s constituents and target audiences who have different and often conflicting goals, perspectives and issues. We:

1. Developed personae and messaging for the key target audience groups, communicating to each the Council’s value, expertise and approach.
2. Designed the information architecture, content and navigation to make helpful and relevant information easily accessible within one or two clicks.
3. Developed graphical navigational tools to communicate the thorough, confidential and impartial steps that Council members take to evaluate and resolve tough safety, health and environmental protection issues.
4. Designed the site to present a calming effect with a serene Eastern Washington landscape in the backdrop.
5. Consulted with the organization and developed a private portal to assist with efficient communications among Council members.

Outcome
The Web site is very well received by the Council and its constituents, and has led to employees bringing important issues forward.
